Deterministic methodology

Know how each result was produced.

BRIO Initiative uses explicit rules applied to stored delivery evidence. The same input and ruleset produce the same result, with availability and limitations kept visible.

Review the principles

Evidence discipline

Explain the result without hidden guesswork.

Metrics preserve their provenance, ruleset identity, eligible issue population, and availability. Missing data never silently becomes zero or healthy.

01

Deterministic

Calculations follow explicit formulas and thresholds rather than AI, machine learning, or undisclosed inference.

02

Traceable

Signals retain reasons, risk contribution, ticket context, and the underlying metrics used to produce them.

03

Versioned

Snapshots and comparisons preserve their ruleset identity. Results from incompatible rulesets are not mixed.

04

Availability-aware

Incomplete or inapplicable evidence is represented explicitly instead of being converted into a reassuring result.

Five availability states

State what the evidence can support.

Availability belongs to the metric and remains part of its interpretation.

01

Computed

The required evidence was available and the metric was calculated.

02

Partial

Some confirmed evidence is available, but an incomplete input could affect the result. Counts are shown as a confirmed minimum; percentages with an uncertain denominator are withheld.

03

Inconclusive

Evidence exists, but it is not sufficient to support a reliable interpretation. It is an availability state, not a risk severity.

04

Not computed

There is no usable snapshot, scope, denominator, or qualifying evidence for the calculation.

05

Not applicable

The metric does not apply to the selected release or sprint context.

Interpretation boundaries

Historical and current-state evidence.

Confidence Trend describes how stored confidence snapshots changed over time. Release Outlook summarizes current stored evidence. Neither is a forecast, delivery probability, or promise that a target date will be met.

  • 01

Sprint scope movement is event-based. Repeated additions and removals count as events, so the result can exceed 100%.

  • 02

Story points are not imputed. Missing estimates stay missing and affect availability.

  • 03

Risk age differs from issue age. Current uninterrupted risk time is tracked separately from ticket creation age.

Current scope

Product limits stated directly.

These boundaries prevent research hypotheses or future possibilities from being presented as current product behavior.

Return to product capabilities
  • 01One configured project or workstream per runtime
  • 02Source support depends on accessible work-item and change-history evidence
  • 03No predictive probabilities or delivery-date forecasts
  • 04No imputed story points or hidden replacement values
  • 05No mixing of comparisons across different rulesets
